7 Days Kilimanjaro Lemosho Route

Overview

We offer a seven day and an eight day climb to the summit of Kilimanjaro using the Lemosho route. Both offer good acclimatisation and wonderful views enroute. This route has a beautiful approach through the forest on the first day through the Lemosho Glades from the west before joining the Machame trail at the Shira Plateau and contouring around the dramatic southern flank of the mountain via Barranco Camp, Karanga Camp and then on to Barafu camp for the summit push. The descent is via Millennium Camp and through Mweka Gate.

Day 1: Arrival in Tanzania and transfer to the hotel

Arrive in Tanzania via Kilimanjaro International airport (JRO). Done Adventures Safari staff will pick you up and transfer to Moshi town where you will spend the first night at a hotel. For those who will arrive through Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Kenya, will be picked up and get transferred by Riverside Shuttle bus to Moshi.

Day 2: Drive to Londorossi Park Gate

Drive to Londorossi Park Gate (2,385m or 7825 ft) and climbing to Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,700 meters or 8858 ft)

  • Hiking hours: 3-4 hours.
  • Distance: 8 Km or 5 miles.

Day 3:Climbing from Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira Camp 1

Climbing from Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira Camp 1 (3,500 m or 11483 feet) Hiking hours 5-6 hours. Distance 6 Km or 6 miles Then, Shira Camp 2 (3,840 meters or 12,598 feet)

  • Hiking hours: 3-4 hours.
  • Distance: 8 Km or 5 miles.

Day 4: Climbing from Shira Camp 2 to Barranco Camp

Climbing from Shira Camp 2 to Barranco Camp (3,950 meters or 12959 feet)

  • Distance: 8 Km or 5 miles.
  • Hiking hours: 6-7 hours.

Day 5: Climbing from Barranco Camp to Karanga Valley Camp

Climbing from Barranco Camp to Karanga Valley Camp (3,995 meters 13,106 feet)

  • Hiking hours: 4-5 hours.
  • Distance: 5 Km or 3 miles.

Day 6: Karanga Valley to Barafu Camp

Karanga Valley to Barafu Camp (4,550 meters or 14928 feet)

  • Hiking hours: 4-5 hours.
  • Distance: 4 Km or 2 miles.

Day 7: Climbing to Uhuru Peak

Climbing to Uhuru Peak (5,895 meters or 19,341feet) Hiking hours 7-8 hours and a distance of 5 Km or 3 miles, then descend through Barafu for a short rest and continue to to Mweka Camp (3,060 meters or 10,065 feet) 4-5 hours with a distance of 12 Km or 7 miles.

Day 8: Descend to Mweka Gate

Descend to Mweka Gate (4,600) Hiking hours 4-5 hours. Distance 4 Km or 2 miles to Mweka gate. Transfer to at Park View Inn for certificate and summit party ceremony.

Day 9: Transfer to Airport

Transfer to airport. Total distance covered is 70 Km or 42 miles.
End of climb.
